The Even Keel accreditation standard
Four things, the same for everybody, checked by a person and published here in full, so you can see exactly what is assessed before you apply.
The four criteria
1Registration
Where your profession has a statutory register, you are on it and in good standing.
We check the register ourselves. A lapse takes the badge off your profile as soon as it is recorded.
2Professional indemnity
You hold professional indemnity insurance that is in date.
You upload the certificate or schedule with the insurer, policy number, cover and expiry, and we read it and confirm the figures. Accreditation runs up to the expiry date of your insurance certificate on file.
3Continuing development
You declare that your continuing professional development is up to date.
It is published as a declaration, because that is what it is. Each year we ask a small number of accredited professionals for the evidence behind theirs.
4Complaints and findings
A clear record on your register for the last five years, and a declaration about anything outstanding.
A published finding is something we can look up. Anything outstanding is yours to tell us about, in a sentence.
Accreditation is about who a professional is. How quickly they reply is measured separately and shown on their listing.
How it is assessed
- Read this standard. It is the whole of what is checked.
- Add your evidence in the Accreditation tab in your portal. It shows what is complete and what is left, criterion by criterion.
- Send it for assessment with one button, once everything is in. Your portal shows the exact date we aim to finish by, counted in working days from the moment you send it.
- We assess it, one criterion at a time, with an in-person access check of your building where practical.
- Then you move to Compass (£79 a month, founding fifty £49), or an accredited seat on your practice's bill. The badge shows while that is paid.
How long it lasts
Accreditation is assessed every year, and it runs up to the expiry date of the insurance certificate on file. Your portal shows when your next assessment is due.
What takes the badge off
- A lapsed registration, as soon as it is recorded.
- An insurance certificate passing its expiry date, the same day.
- A suspension by us, always with a written reason you can read in your portal.
- Stopping Compass or leaving an accredited seat. Your assessment stands, and the badge returns when the plan does.
Refusals, suspensions and appeals
Every refusal and every suspension comes with a written reason. You can appeal it once, within thirty days, from the Accreditation tab in your portal, and every appeal is answered in writing.
A suspension overturned on appeal is lifted straight away. A refusal overturned on appeal is assessed again against these four criteria, because the assessment is what earns the badge.
Even Keel is run by the owner of Respire Physio, a listed practice, so the person assessing may be assessing a neighbour. That is why the standard is published here, every assessment is recorded against it with its evidence, and every decision can be appealed.
