What the badges mean
Every professional on Even Keel wears one badge beside their register. The shape and colour say what was checked. The small picture inside says the profession.
The shape: what was checked
- Statutory registerHCPC, GMC, NMC, GDC, GOC, GPhC, GCC, GOsC and Social Work England. The profession's title is protected in law.
- Accredited registerRegisters the Professional Standards Authority accredits, such as BACP, UKCP, NCPS, CNHC, AHCS and the British Acupuncture Council.
- Professional registerRegisters kept by a professional or governing body: CIMSPA, the LTA, Swim England and the Association for Nutrition.
- Even Keel accreditedAssessed by Even Keel against the published standard: registration, insurance, professional development and complaints.
- Vouched forFor a professional whose work sits outside the statutory registers. A named organisation Even Keel has checked confirms, in writing, that they work with them and are insured. Renewed every year.
- Identity and insurance checkedEven Keel has checked who they are and that they are insured.
A badge describes a person. Search follows the same rule for every badge: the order of results comes from what you ask for, and how matching works explains it in full. Every register badge is checked against the register itself before it appears.

Founding Fifty and Founder of Even Keel
Founding Fifty marks one of the first fifty professionals to join Even Keel. Founder of Even Keel marks Daniel West, the physiotherapist who founded the directory and also lists his own practice here, said openly. Both show on the profile alone, and both sit outside the order of results, which follows the same rule for everybody.
Vouched for by … names a colleague on Even Keel who has worked with the professional and says so.
Even Keel's spotlight
Each Friday Even Keel features one professional who has said yes in their Portal. Even Keel chooses from everyone who said yes, by what patients value, scored out of 100: the way in measured (25), three or more approved photos (20), replies within 24 hours (15), a published review (10), a town newly lit on the map (15), and a spread of professions and towns (15). Each professional has one spotlight in any eight weeks, hears the Monday before with a one-tap way to pass the week on, and the choice rests on these criteria alone. A spotlight is a feature, separate from search: the order of results follows the same rule for everybody.
